Your Sun sign is the sign the Sun was travelling through when you were born — your core direction, vitality and sense of self. Most people know theirs from birthday tables, but those tables are approximations: the Sun changes sign on slightly different dates each year, and if your birthday falls near a boundary, two magazines can give you two different signs. We settle it with astronomy.

Born on the cusp?

There is no mystical "cusp sign" — at any given moment the Sun is in exactly one sign. What varies is the calendar: leap years and the Earth's orbital rhythm shift the changeover by up to a day either way. Enter your birth date (and time, if you have it) and this calculator computes the Sun's true ecliptic longitude for that moment, so cusp birthdays get one answer — the right one.
